Name

A contest was held to name the technology center. Eighth grader Ben Wesley received a registered Pony of the Americas for the winning name, Indian Meridian Area Vocational Technical Center.

Ben was a student in the Mulhall-Orlando school district and his geography class was studying the Indian Meridian () of the Public Land Survey System. Ben later attended Indian Meridian in the Offset Printing Program.

The name of the pony was "Smokey Joe".

Student organizations

Student organizations play a vital role in the success of Oklahoma's CareerTech students. CTSO's provide leadership and growth opportunities outside of the classroom.

The National Technical Honor Society has an active chapter on this campus.
